Palma DHS-10: Palma's convertible headphones, now in seven colors

The world's first High-End convertible headphones, now more accessible and with multiple finishes

We publish the full press release from Palma. The key facts and the specifications are added by HifiCafé.

Born from the success of the exceptional Palma DHS-1, the world's first convertible High End headphones, the new Palma DHS-10 from the young Spanish company Palma Headphones combine the same base design with modifications in the materials used to make accessible to a greater number of sound enthusiasts a musicality and versatility recognized with the highest praise by the international specialized press.

Palma Headphones, the Spanish company that in 2025 made a difference in the audiophile-grade headphone market with its revolutionary convertible Palma DHS-1 model, has just launched a new addition to its catalog: the Palma DHS-10. Officially presented on June 4th at the High End Vienna 2026 exhibition, the DHS-10 are, like their celebrated predecessors, circumaural, electrodynamic, and their earcups can be opened or closed at the rear —DHS stands for "Dual Headphone System"— thanks to a meticulous acoustic design that allows leveraging the advantages of both modes —spaciousness in open mode, intimacy in closed mode— while preserving an exceptionally linear frequency response curve designed to satisfy the most demanding music lovers and audiophiles. Their advanced transducers are mounted in synthetic material earcups to form a perfectly optimized acoustic block that maximizes musicality and suppresses listening fatigue. In line with Palma's philosophy, they have been individually developed and hand-assembled in Spain, combining premium materials and a meticulously studied design to ensure the highest quality sound and freedom from listening fatigue in both operating modes.

At the heart of the DHS-10 we find what is undoubtedly its manufacturer's main hallmark: its meticulously engineered convertibility between open and closed operating modes —much like a convertible car— through an extremely precise, elegant, and reliable system developed —with patented technology— by Palma which allows the user to easily and quickly choose between two sonic propositions, each with its own personality, depending on the recording listened to and the environmental conditions.

The Goal: Making the Excellence of the DHS-1 More Accessible Without Compromising Sound

The DHS-10 are, like their older siblings, the fruit of a shared passion for music, technology, and innovation. A passion in which the use of premium materials has now been carefully proportioned to make the exceptional sonic performance and unique flexibility of Palma's flagship accessible to a greater number of enthusiasts. As a result, the wooden earcups of the DHS-1 have been replaced by recyclable synthetic material earcups of similar geometry with the aim of maintaining the same ergonomics and anatomical fit, thus utilizing the same adjustment and fitting elements.

In the acoustic realm, the new Palma headphones are a faithful reflection of the obsession with excellence that defines their founders, demanding the virtually intact preservation of the quality offered by the DHS-1. This means that a fundamental concept has been preserved where the transducer and earcup assembly is considered as an acoustic enclosure, such that visual aesthetics are always subordinate to the function to be performed. Hence, the DHS-10 are equipped with an electrodynamic transducer with a 50 mm diaphragm consisting of a blend of pressed cellulose in its central area and an ultra-thin polyamide suspension ring. The meticulous redesign of the earcups, whose internal walls with polygonal latticework drastically reduce material density while maintaining the rigidity of the assembly, as well as the capacity and tuning point of the DHS-1. This elegant solution ensures that the aforementioned transducer offers optimal acoustic loading, minimizes resonances, and, as a result, yields a flat frequency response curve in both available operating modes, regardless of volume level. Furthermore, the change in earcup material allows for excellent acoustic sealing, making the DHS-10 ideal headphones for applications where the user wants to concentrate on their favorite music or simply not disturb those nearby. To switch from open to closed or vice versa, simply rotate the earcup covers simultaneously by 14 degrees —either clockwise or counter-clockwise—. Their innovative concave shape and single-piece composition instead of two —the result of an engineering effort aimed at creating a simpler yet equally effective solution— not only facilitate the maneuver but also increase the rigidity of the assembly.

The seven colors of the Palma DHS-10 in a row: white, blue, red, green, yellow, grey, and black

The DHS-10 also include lambskin ear pads integrated into their acoustic design, 3.5 mm connectors on their earcups to increase connection possibilities, presented with a luxurious case inside which the owner will also find a sheet with the frequency response curves in open and closed modes corresponding to the unit purchased. The new Palma are completed with a truly groundbreaking innovation in a market as conservative as High End audio: their availability in seven colors that honor iconic names from popular music of all time. Thanks to this, the user can choose between "Whiter Shade of Pale" (white), "Kind of Blue" (blue), "Simply Red" (red), "Greensleves" (green), "Mellow Yellow" (yellow), "Old Whistle Grey" (grey) and "Black is Black" (black).

The Palma DHS-10 are available from September 2026 for a recommended retail price of 1,595 euros at authorized national and international dealers and at www.palma.audio.
